City Lunches

I had the coolest day yesterday! I met up with a friend of mine in the city for lunch which was a lovely treat. Then I went to the Craft & Quilt fair at the Melb Exhibition Centre. It was fabulous looking through all the materials and looking at different quilts - lots of gorgeous children's ones (I just don't have time to do such lengthy projects!). I managed to get Boo to have a short nap in the pram so I got to stay out all day!! I met up with my Mum there too and she's bought DD this absolutely gorgeous felt doll (AK doll) with a kit for making clothes for her - some is knitting which my Mum will do and some is sewing which I'll do. I also spoke to a man at the Janome stand who gave me a demo on doing buttonholing, so I should be able to finish Boo's dress soon!

Here is a picture of some of the fabrics I got:

Baby Shower Makings

We are having a baby shower for a very good friend of mine on Sunday. I made up a card for her this evening and I am pretty pleased with myself about it! It took ages to make the first card but then I quickly put together 2 more cards to use for a new baby girl and boy.

I made a little hamper for her with a squeaker toy (Alimrose), baby wipes, fish teether, muslin wrap, sudocrem, nappy sacks, bath soap. All were wrapped in a fleece wrap and tied with a pretty bow.

I made a chocolate cheesecake slice to share with everyone. I realised yesterday that I did not have a decent sized serving platter and picked a square one up cheaply from.. Safeway! It was $7 - bargain! I do not have a photo of the slice - sorry! It was from the Family Circle "Crazy for Chocolate" cookbook.

My funky duck

I bought the most gorgeous little duck today! I'm not sure what it is about him - it might be his cute beanie but something more then that. I just fell in love with him.

Cute present

Boo went to her first 1st birthday party today. A good friend of ours, Alicia, turned one. We gave her a lovely Poppy Cat book, a Suzy's Zoo book and a red car. She loved everything and drove the red car all over the house - big hit!

Introducing Miss Blush

MissBlush_1077

I went to Spotlight this morning to get some extra supplies (filling) for the doll and I bought some lovely materials and other bits and bobs. I bought some Mundial scissors which my Mum has and they are AWESOME!!! They are beautiful, smooth scissors and oh-so sharp.

I cut out the doll material yesterday and I was so excited about having a project to do (first challenging and enlightening thing since birth of my DD) that I worked away on it tonight and here she is. I have also included a progress photo.

My first post-baby project!

MissButtonsPackage_1045

I received my Sew Your Own dolls kit in the mail today. I am incredibly excited and am VERY happy with the material selection that I received.

I am also working on a dress for Sarah. I cannot remember how to sew though and have a few hurdles to cross - namely buttonholing! So her dress shall be a work in progress (WIP).
